Can't wait to try itAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10273492725439149528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7087251278735661763.post-90038858894516131652012-06-15T07:22:45.614-07:002012-06-15T07:22:45.614-07:00Hi Doug

You can use both but sometimes its better to just use ra it all depends on your polar alignment and PHD settings it takes some fiddling around to get just right and some nights are better then others. Practise on a moon filled night is my advice untill you have it sussed. If your doing it unguided stick to 80 second subs and take lots of them 80x80 is a good one.
Cheers Mark.Mark Castohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17095897342947349818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7087251278735661763.post-13601081196221110772012-06-15T05:18:11.006-07:002012-06-15T05:18:11.006-07:00Hi Mark

I haven't read this blog yet but I will bookmark it and come back later when I have more time. I have an EQ5 with dual axis motors I installed myself and I've always been dubious about this mod due to the backlash the motors display, but you seem to have got it working great. I'll have to have a rethink. If this can be done cheaply, I'll have some :)

DougDoug Germanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02683066182341140259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7087251278735661763.post-18737142518088854292012-06-14T00:43:11.980-07:002012-06-14T00:43:11.980-07:00Hello,

I am very new to the world of astronomy having bought my first telescope in March this year, but I managed to follow your guide right through to the end with my Skywatcher 150PDS and EQ2-3 mount.

After two weeks of clouds I finally managed to take it all outside last night, not having a huge amount of time I copied your setting in you scrren shot about exactly. I was however still getting a small amount of trailing on 2 min exposures (although a lot better than before).

I notice that you have Dec Guide off does that mean it will only Guide on RA and perhaps that's where I was going wrong?

Thanks,

JamesAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14832479922046500538noreply@blogger.com
